Wondering About the Future?

29 Sep

Share Now

Does this year seem like one of the strangest years you have ever lived? Are you wondering about the future? Do uncertainties unsettle you? Do you look into the future and see a fog?

When my spirit was overwhelmed within me,
You knew my path.
Psalm 142:3

It is comforting to know that God knows where we need to go and how to get us there. The fourth verse of “Peace, Perfect Peace” by Edward Henry Bickersteth comes to mind.

Peace, perfect peace, our future all unknown?
Jesus we know, and he is on the throne.

“Our future all unknown” — that has always been true, but most of us feel that more intensely this year than we have before. I am confident that two of the lessons God wants us to learn in 2020 are:

  • We are totally dependent on Him.
  • We can trust Him with everything.

As you look trustingly ahead, may these verses bring you comfort.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart
And do not lean on your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He will make your paths straight.
Proverbs 3:5-6

Make me walk in the path of Your commandments,
For I delight in it.
Psalm 119:35

Your word is a lamp to my feet
And a light to my path.
Psalm 119:105

Thus says the Lord,
“Stand by the ways and see and ask for the ancient paths,
Where the good way is, and walk in it;
And you will find rest for your souls.”
Jeremiah 6:16
