Thankful for the Harvest

Two garden scarecrows hanging out with some scarecrow grandchildren last Saturday.

One of our friends told us the other day that his family gathered 25 pounds of peppers from their garden before our heavy frost hit. Wow! 25 pounds! Think about what God did in that one garden with that one kind of plant. Today would be a good day to thank Him for the provisions He has supplied in this past growing season. It’s also a good day to remind our children where all that stuff in the refrigerator and freezer and cabinets came from. We don’t want to be like those people Jeremiah talked about.

But this people has a stubborn and rebellious heart;
They have turned aside and departed.
They do not say in their heart,
“Let us now fear the Lord our God,
Who gives rain in its season,
Both the autumn rain and the spring rain,
Who keeps for us
The appointed weeks of the harvest.”
Jeremiah 5:24
