45 Years

27 Dec

Share Now

Several weeks ago, on a bright October day, Ray and I enjoyed a walk with Bethany and her family. It was one of those afternoons when the light shines just right for taking photographs, including this one of Ray and me, taken that afternoon.

On that day we were relishing a quiet afternoon with Bethany and her crew. Today we are relishing time with one another, as we celebrate our 45th anniversary. This day’s at least as busy as that one was quiet, but what matters is that we are together. What a gift to spend the day with someone you have relished for 45 years. Well, it’s not exactly true that we have exactly relished every one of those days. Sometimes it takes a lot of years to learn that relishing business — but it’s worth it. Hang in there!

When we were younger, I used to tell Ray that I wasn’t smart enough to pick him out. I am grateful that God was looking out for me and that He offered me the precious gift of Ray.

Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above,
coming down from the Father of lights,
with whom there is no variation or shifting shadow.
James 1:17

Such a beautiful love story. Thank you for sharing your lives and hearts with us. I am always grateful for the example of a Godly marriage – not a perfect one. 🙂

My husband and I will celebrate 28 years in July. He is my best friend and there’s nobody I’d rather spend time with. We are self employed and homeschool so our family is together most of time most days. I wouldn’t have it any other way. I know my husband and children and they know me.

Thanks again for your blog. I am always glad to share my morning with you. You encourage me and offer real life experiences and wisdom. For that I am grateful and thank you for forging the Homeschool path before I did, making it easier for me.

    Charlene:

I have to agree with your statement “When we were younger, I used to tell Ray that I wasn’t smart enough to pick him out. I am grateful that God was looking out for me and that He offered me the precious gift of Ray.”. That is how I feel about my marriage. We will celebrate our 49th civil wedding anniversary and our 50th anniversary from our Betrothal which in the Jewish faith is your Wedding day. That was the reason Joseph said he would put Mary away quietly when he found out that she was pregnant.
