God Understands Our Thought From Afar

Well, everyone who read “Therold’s Little Opry” from an email yesterday probably wondered what those random words were at the beginning. Uh, let me explain.

While I wrote “Food for the Mind, Body, and Soul” about my outing with Mary Evelyn and her children last week, I jotted down some notes about our stop at Trader Joe’s later that afternoon, thinking that I might write about that later. When I make notes like that in my blog program, I try to date them sometime in December, so that I have plenty of time either to turn them into a blog or delete them. But sometimes I goof up and date them sometime soon. This was one of those times. I dated those notes for August 11, but then I went to Therold’s Little Opry and changed my mind about what to write about for yesterday.

My mistake was not “telling” WordPress that I changed my mind. When our email program searched WordPress for what to send out yesterday, it found my real article for yesterday and those notes, too; and it sent out both of them. Oops. Those of you who have read my blogs for a long time know that my middle name is not Technology and sometimes I goof. Actually my middle name is Charlene and my first name is Eva, but I digress . . .

You usually aren’t privy to my random thoughts, but yesterday there they were for all to see. You see, I had several interesting experiences in Trader Joe’s last Wednesday. I thought I might put some of them together and write about them, but I wasn’t quite sure if it was a good idea.

I knew it would be okay to tell you about my experiences with our granddaughter Clara. She stayed with me while I shopped and her little brother stayed with their mama. The carts for little people were out of commission that day, so sometimes Clara held onto my cart and sometimes she sat in the child seat. When she got in there, she said, “I’ll be like other children.”

When she got hungry and wanted a snack, she told me, “I’m hungry and thirsty for righteousness.” That’s our Clara. Sometimes she is “like other children” and sometimes we think she’s pretty special.

I love to go to Trader Joe’s because lots of things are healthy; the prices are good; and the people, the decor, the signs, and so many things are just so fun. Everyone is friendly and helpful. Where else do people walk around holding a long pole with a fat question mark on top, so you can easily find an answer when you have a question? Clara thought it was a guitar.

While I knew it was okay to tell you those things, I wasn’t sure if I should tell you about a couple of interesting people working there. I wanted to be sure that I was treating them respectfully first. And I wasn’t sure if I should tell you that Mary Evelyn and I wondered if regular-looking people like us could get a job at Trader Joe’s, since we might not be funky enough.

I’m glad that God understands my thought from afar:

PA convention and Mother's Day 306

O Lord, You have searched me and known me.
You know when I sit down and when I rise up;
You understand my thought from afar.
Psalm 139:1-2

As for me, I need to keep praying:

Let the words of my mouth
and the meditation of my heart
Be acceptable in Your sight,
O Lord, my rock and my Redeemer.
Psalm 19:14

Because you never know when your thoughts will be hanging out there for all the world to see. I’m thankful that the God Who knows all of them all of the time loves me anyway.
